Here we go!
Here we go! Another year in schools. Another year of great successes, frustrating pitfalls and perhaps even a little drama. One thing I know for certain is that schools are never boring, not for a minute. In fact, some days we crave a little boredom in schools…but no, that isn’t how this works.
Over the break I was able to connect with the people in my life who matter most to me. We laughed, ate and had a few drinks to celebrate. We shared our stories from the year just done and talked about our hopes for the new year.
One thing was abundantly clear. All of my friends who are teachers or work in schools, are filled with hope for another fabulous year. We know there will be tough times ahead and equally, we know that we will get to play a small part in someone’s life that may be exactly what they need at that moment in time.
That is a gift. To be there when someone needs you, to listen to their story, to help them puzzle through an issue, to build a relationship, lots of relationships. It is a gift to be a teacher, a leader, staff in schools.
I am grateful that I get to work in schools across the country. Schools filled with amazing teachers, kids, staff and families. It is a gift. Each time I speak to someone, I am filled with gratitude, you are the people working so tirelessly for our young people. Each time a teacher shares a hard moment, I am grateful that the young person we talk about has you in their life. You, teachers, leaders and staff, you make a difference.
Thank you for all that you do. I do hope that your year is boring. Nah, just kidding, that won’t happen. I do hope though that it is filled with successes and growth for everyone.
