Sometimes the most powerful lessons come from unexpected places. A music festival. A shared song. A moment of noticing the people around us.
Last Saturday I spent some time ‘people watching’ at the Red Hot Summer Tour.
I found myself smiling from ear to ear.
We were such an eclectic collection of human beings, all uplifted and excited by the performers of the day.
It got me thinking…
So many people, so many different walks of life, so many differing priorities, yet united for a common purpose – to celebrate and enjoy the Australian music industry at its best.
For nine hours straight we sang, danced, ate and conversed with strangers – affirming each other for our dance moves, terrible tone and brilliant attire.
Our diversity was our strength!
In transforming school culture, curiosity – real genuine curiosity – allows us to see beauty in our diversity… to learn from each other, grow with each other, work with each other, appreciate another’s point of view and still live in harmony.
Real genuine curiosity. One of the first steps in preserving humanity and appreciating our diversity.
Perhaps you might catch yourself today noticing the diversity around you and consider the value it brings to your life.
